Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet rooted in discipline and maturity. Capricorn can guide is toward laying sturdy foundations and grasping a strong foothold to springboard ourselves to the next place in our path.
Tonight’s reading shows us nearly the complete court – a sign that this message is of the utmost importance. Wands and Cups sit opposite one another when the elemental energies of the tarot at being paired. Here they are paired up, reminding us that all things must be kept in balance, but the King of Cups stands alone in his watery element, protecting us from the burdens that may arise on our quest in this life – expressed by the Knight of Wands.
The Queen of Wands balances out the reading. She holds the cutting swiftness of the Wands and the master of emotion of the Cups. She walks evenly, and with grace, in both worlds, making her a true Queen of her journey.
We can take away an important message from this – probably one of the most important and, yet, one of the most easily forgotten.
We can each benefit from committing to a regular practice of self care. When we find ourselves weighed down by burdens in life, that foundation is what helps us lift that weight. And for those who have lost that structure of safe return, a rare and pure opportunity is presented – one of beginning anew; each small step is worthy of celebration.
